Well, we went to see the pediatrician for Asa's two week check-up to make sure he was eating well and that he had gained his birth weight back. When we went on January 9th, he weighed 6 lbs. 4 oz. When we weighed him yesterday he weighed 7 lbs. 2 oz. So, he is eating like a champ and is very healthy.
He is also sleeping very well too. We feel so blessed to have such a well-tempered baby up to this point (must take after his daddy:). He is sleeping great at night and we have to wake him up to feed instead of the opposite happening. We know all of that could change today, but we feel very fortunate so far.
Asa is going to take his first road-trip up to Athens this weekend to see the rest of his kin. I'm sure he will also make a lot of new friends while he is there too. We will let you know how it goes.

Already saying things I said I would never say

I constantly find myself throughout the day looking at Asa and saying that he is the most precious child ever. I never get tired of just sitting and watching him even when he's sleeping (unless it's 3:30 am :). I used to chuckle at other parents who constantly doted on thier kids and said I would never be that way. Well, I am man enough to admit that I have become that doting parent and I don't plan on changing.

New Arrival-January 5, 2006

We'll all we can say is...God is so Gracious and Good! Jessica had a great labor and delivery. We were watching the National Championship game on Wednesday night, and after the game around 12:30 AM Jess said she was feeling like she was having contractions. She couldn't sleep, which meant I couldn't sleep either :). She called the doctor on call around 2:30 AM and he said to go to the hospital when the contractions got to be 5 minutes apart.
So at 7:00AM we loaded up the car and headed to Northside hospital. We were in the room by 8:00AM and she got the epidural around 10:00AM. They waited until she was fully dilated and at 12:44 PM she started pushing. Then at 1:33 PM Asa Chadwick Middlebrooks came into the world. Jess did incredibly well and is recovering nicely. Asa has assumed his roles extremely fast...sleep, eat, & poop.
We very much appreciate all of your prayers for us during this wonderful time in our lives. Continue to pray that Jess and the baby can get good rest and recover quickly.
